How this differs from writing a song
A song ends when it ends. Music for picture ends when the edit needs it to — often mid-phrase. That changes the whole method: timing and hit points are agreed first, notes come second.
We work against your edit from the first screening. When the edit changes — and it will — the score is built so that this does not mean writing it again.
